How to Use Google OCR to Convert Images into Text?

There are many free online tools to convert images into text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. But these are no match when it comes to google. One such free technology by google is its OCR. Actually it is not apparently visible to common users but rather hidden, though the procedure is pretty simple.
  1. Upload the file to Google Drive. Following file types are supported:
    -JPG
    -PNG
    -GIF
    -PDF
  2. After uploading the file, locate it in google drive.
  3. Right click and select 'Open with > Google Docs
  4. That's it! The magic happens. The google docs will insert the image and will perform an OCR on the entire image. The next page will contain the text extracted from the image file.
For the best result resolution of the image should be at least 10 pixels in height and its orientation must be right side up. File size to upload should not exceed 2 MB.

It is to be noted that OCR will not retain the source document's formatting. Tables, number and bullets will be lost. However in a good resolution document, bold, underline and italics may be retained.
